Healing Sounds Practice
This video shows a practice of all of the Healings Sounds. The sounds can be done individually or combined as a practice. We have explored with each sound how trying to avoid specific feelings, a movement of energy can cause us to hold tension in muscles. As we encounter an object, situation or person our beliefs give rise to a movement of energy, which gives rise to our actions and what results, will usually validate our beliefs. Hence, our experience of the world feels very set and if your life is working in a way that makes you happy, great. If it is not, this idea of our experience of the world as set would be better described as stuck. These areas of tension and pain are trail heads to follow to connect to the underlying beliefs. Underneath of our many parts, or aspects of our personality is an essential, grounded and centered aspect of us that is connected to a universal source of energy that is culturally described in ways. This underlying energy can heal and be present with every part of us and the burdensome beliefs these parts may carry. We are our healer. The Healing Sounds are a way to create space for the parts that are stuck and gripping the body to avoid feelings. Once we have space we can connect with our healing energy, or “Self” energy as described by IFS psychotherapy model.
For many years I have applied the principles of Taoism to my bodywork practice. Over the last several years I have participated in learning the IFS psychotherapy model and I have found that it provides a language and bridge to translate the wisdom of Taoist practices to a modern, western culture.
